B.E.S.T. Kids Program
The Sparks Chamber of Commerce B.E.S.T. Kids Program is a committee based program that recognizes 200 Sparks Middle School Students every year. These special students are recognized by school faculty for being courteous, responsible, helpful, and professional. The 200 students are chosen for having strong business traits and they are properly awarded certificates by the Sparks Chamber and several local government offices.
The students are sent on a full day tour of a local business to experience hands-on a real life working environment. Past tours have incldued: the University of Nevada, Reno; The Fallon Air base; the Northern Nevada Medical Center; as well as other dynamic work environments.
The 200 BEST kids are rewarded with a special BBQ/Mixer provided by the Sparks Chamber of Commerce, donor sponsors and the primary sponsor, Terrible's Rail City Casino. A BBQ dinner is provided for the 200 students and 400 additional parents and siblings. The BEST kids are then awarded prizes, recognized in local media, and provided certificates of recognition for being outstanding examples.

Looking for a few special people:
The BEST Kids committee is always looking for dedicated individuals to serve on the BEST kids committee. This committee meets once per month and maintains the program. The committee is responsible for advertising the program, working with local teachers and school staff, as well colelcting prize donations and facilitating the BBQ mixer event. It's a great way to get in touch with the local Sparks Community and give back at the same time.
Prize Donations:
All Sparks Chamber members are encouraged to donate prizes for the BEST kids program. We look for items in 200+ quantity and they may logo items, stationary, small kids games, stickers, pens, etc. If you are interested in making a donation and being listed as a prize donor don't hestitate to contact the Sparks Chamber at: 775-358-1976. |
